Deadly Weather Outbreak Impacts Millions

Tornado and Storm Damage in Tallahassee

Severe thunderstorms and a possible tornado caused widespread damage in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday. Residents woke up to downed trees, damaged buildings, and power outages after the storms swept through the area.

The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed whether a tornado touched down in Tallahassee, but the damage is consistent with tornado activity. The storms moved through the area quickly, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

Over 66,000 customers in Tallahassee are without power as a result of the storms. Utility crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible.

Residents are being urged to stay off the roads and avoid downed power lines. There are also reports of gas leaks and structural damage throughout the city.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter for residents who have been displaced by the storms. The shelter is located at the Tallahassee Senior Center, 1400 N. Monroe Street.

The City of Tallahassee has declared a state of emergency and is asking for residents to conserve water and boil water before drinking it.
